The first Ukrainian telecommunications satellite "Lybid" will launch into orbit in 2017

The first Ukrainian telecommunications "Lybid" satellite going into orbit next year. Previously reported by the "Interfax", citing a source in the cosmodrome "Baikonur". This information AIN.UA also indirectly confirmed by the State Space Agency of Ukraine (GKAU).

According to the publication, the Ukrainian satellite launch with the "Baikonur" with the help of the carrier rocket "Zenit-2SB" and the upper "Fregat-SB" block. Contractor of the project - the Canadian company MDA, subcontractor - "Information Satellite Systems". Treaty on the launch of the satellite was signed with the Canadians back in 2009, but for various reasons the satellite launch of all time was transferred. In particular - due to the Russian annexation of the Crimea.

As reported in the editorial GKAU, at the moment the satellite "Lybid" is fully assembled, he passed all the tests, is in storage mode, on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk company "Information Satellite Systems" and is ready to be shipped to the launch site.

"Now HCA is taking action to ensure the launch of" Lybid "spacecraft in 2017", - told the agency.

Because of the annexation of the Crimea Ukraine has lost ground satellite control complex, built near Yalta. This delayed the implementation of the project and increase its cost. SE "Ukrkosmos" self-built residential complex to the end of 2014 at their own expense (about $ 1 million). Take out the equipment from the Crimea can not, therefore, a ground control station rented from the Italian company Telespazio.
